Access

By Car/Road/Ferry Boat
Thassos is unique in that it is very close to the mainland and is serviced by the excellent Odos Ignatia (E90) motorway which runs across the north of Greece from port of Igoumenitsa in the west to the Turkish border in the east. It has arterial connections which give access to Bulgaria, Skopia (FYROM), Albania and Turkey. Thassos also benefits from having two ferry ports, Limenas (Thassos Town) and Skala Prinos. Limenas is serviced by boats from Keramoti on the mainland, this is a short, 35 minute journey and has regular sailings every half an hour until 22:00 at the height of the summer. Skala Prinos has a ferry boat service from the mainland city of Kavala, this route takes one hour and 15 minutes and has less frequent sailings. Both Keramoti and Kavala are on the Odos Ignatia (E90) motorway network.

By Aeroplane
Thassos does not have its own airport but is well serviced by Kavala Airport (Megas Alexandros – KVA) during the summer months, these are however mainly ‘package’ flights and a twice daily connection from Athens. From the Kavala Airport it is a 17 kilometre taxi/car trip to Keramoti port. Car hire is easily arranged from the airport through a choice of international or Thassian based car hire companies.
Thessaloniki Airport (SKG) which is an international airport and has flights to and from most European destinations. From the airport you can either take a bus or taxi to the coach station and from there it is a pleasant 2 hour journey to Kavala. The coaches run throughout the day on the hour. If you choose, you can hire a car from the airport and drive to either Kavala or Keramoti, the journey should take you no more than 2 hours.
